Two Israeli sisters, both in their 20s, were killed Friday morning in a shooting attack near the Israeli town of Humra in the Jordan Valley. Their mother was wounded and is in critical condition.
The terrorist first rammed into the victims’ car before firing at the passengers.
United Hatzalah regional paramedic Oded Shabbat, who was one of the first responders at the scene said: “When I arrived I found three people who were in critical condition. Together with other first responders, I performed CPR on the injured in an attempt to save their lives. One injured person was transported by helicopter to the hospital for further care.”
The family resides in Efrat, a city in Gush Etzion in Judea.
“In the face of terrorism, we have to put aside our differences and act with an iron fist,” Gush Etzion Regional Council Chairman Shlomo Ne’eman stated.
“Despicable and heartless people murdered young women on their way to celebrate the [Passover] holiday. Our only enemy is terror, which raises its head and must be eliminated. The terrorists must be caught and not left alive.
“It is time to stop with these defensive policies and go on the offensive. Only heavy-handed actions against the enemy and the continued construction and development of Jewish communities will restore peace to the region.
“No terrorism will cause us to surrender, we will continue to live and thrive in the land of our ancestors,” he said.
The IDF is searching the area for the terrorists, who fled the scene.
The attack occurred following a massive barrage of rockets into northern Israel on Thursday – the largest since the 2006 Israel-Lebanon war – and the firing of missiles from Gaza, one of which damaged a home in Sderot.
The Passover holiday began Wednesday evening. Earlier that day, 350 Palestinians were arrested at the Temple Mount compound in the Old City of Jerusalem after hundreds of rioters barricaded themselves inside the Al-Aqsa Mosque with fireworks, rocks, and other projectiles.
