Mark Levin, a conservative television and radio show host and prominent ally of President Donald Trump, denounced former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett this week while urging Israelis to reelect Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in this year’s Knesset election.
On Monday night, Levin, the host of an eponymous show on Fox News, penned a lengthy post on his X account, comparing Netanyahu to Winston Churchill while calling Bennett an ideological “chameleon.”
“Naftali Bennett, unknown to the vast majority of Americans, is doing everything he can to become the next Israeli prime minister,” Levin wrote. “He changes positions as often as most of us change our clothes.”
“He builds alliances he promised not to build, and then he changes alliances if he thinks he can benefit from the constant realignments. He has accused Benjamin Netanyahu of treason, sabotage, and a host of other demagogic and hysterical claims.”
“Bennett is trying to run to the left of Netanyahu, to his right and up the middle, like a chameleon. And his language is sensationalistic and melodramatic. He’s throwing everything against the wall as fast as he can and as much as he can. He knows the mostly left-wing media in Israel will eat it up.”
Levin went on to accuse Bennett of criticizing Trump by proxy through his attacks on Netanyahu’s handling of the war in Iran.
“Bennett is also declaring that Netanyahu has failed to reach his war objectives with Iran. Of course, this is an unstated attack on President Trump and our armed forces, but the implication is obvious, as Israel and the United States are working in unison.”
Levin was appointed last year by Trump to the Homeland Security Advisory Council and has maintained a close relationship with the president since Trump’s first term.
The president has appeared numerous times on Levin’s radio and television programs and frequently plugs Levin’s shows in his Truth Social posts.
The 68-year-old pundit warned Israelis not to replace Netanyahu with Bennett, drawing parallels to the defeat of Winston Churchill in the final months of World War II.
“Even from afar, you have to wonder: Will the Israelis actually replace their Winston Churchill with a Clement Attlee, as the British did in 1945 when WWII was ending? For their sake, I certainly hope not.”
Levin’s comments came a day after Bennett and Opposition Leader Yair Lapid – who shared the premiership with Bennett during their government’s brief tenure – formed a new, unified Knesset list, “Together.”
“You’re a joke, Bennett,” Levin wrote in response to the announcement on the formation of the party.
“Stoke division, then call for unity. Stand for everything and stand for nothing. Your unity, of course, evolves around you becoming PM at any price. That’s not unity. That’s opportunism and demagoguery.”
Iran also urged countries hosting American forces to end their military cooperation with Washington.
