UK doctor who called to ‘gas the Jews’ gets off with warning

Tribunal rules that a British doctor who called Jews “banker goblins” and claimed the Holocaust was fake can keep his medical license.

A doctor working for Britain’s National Health Service, who referred to the Jewish people as “banker goblins,” called for Jews to be gassed, and insinuated that the Holocaust was an elaborate hoax, has been cleared of serious wrongdoing by a professional tribunal and will be allowed to continue practicing medicine.

Dr. Martin Whyte, who previously served as an executive member of the British Medical Association (BMA), posted numerous tweets attacking Jews. He later claimed the posts were merely distasteful jokes.

The General Medical Council (GMC), which regulates doctors in the UK, accepted Whyte’s explanation. While the tribunal acknowledged that the tweets were “grossly offensive,” it concluded there was insufficient evidence that Whyte intended to be antisemitic.

The entity ruled that the posts were not “serious enough to pose a risk to public protection.” As a result, Whyte was allowed to resume practicing medicine after receiving only a warning. He was suspended when the tweets first came to light.

Whyte repeatedly expressed hatred for Jews and celebrated the murder of Jewish people on his X account.

In response to a video about the 2018 mass shooting at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh, Whyte wrote, “haha,” followed by the Nazi slogan “Zeig heil” and “Gas the Jews” — and added that YouTube videos claiming the Holocaust was a hoax were “pretty convincing.”

In another message, Whyte sarcastically wrote that he would portray Jews fairly and respectfully on his account and then referenced “Jew banker goblins.”

A spokesperson for the Campaign Against Antisemitism (CAA) condemned the GMC’s decision in a statement to the Daily Mail.

“Every week, there is some new outrage from the medical regulatory system. Is there any level of racism against Jewish people that the GMC would consider worthy of actual disciplinary action? If so, we have yet to see it.”

The spokesperson added, “Antisemitism is at record highs in our society and regulators are totally asleep at the wheel. Another spectacular failure by the medical regulator.”

This case follows another recent controversy in which a UK doctor, Rahmeh Aladwan, was allowed to keep her medical license after praising Hamas, justifying the Oct. 7 massacres, and protesting with Palestine Action — an organization the British government has designated as a terror group.
