According to The Times of London, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer is set to officially recognize Palestine as a state this weekend.
The announcement has been intentionally postponed until after President Donald Trump completes his state visit to the UK.
Starmer reportedly wants to avoid overshadowing tomorrow’s joint press conference with Trump and prevent the recognition from dominating media attention.
The move comes despite Trump’s strong opposition, which he has previously framed as rewarding Hamas and undermining Israel’s position.
Israel remains skeptical regarding Hamas' public declaration that it is prepared to surrender its weapons.
