A pro-Hamas journalist in the UK who has publicly celebrated the October 7, 2023, massacres was arrested on Sunday for spreading “racial hatred” ahead of the debut meeting of a new radical anti-Israel activist group.

West Midlands Police confirmed that two suspects were arrested in Birmingham on Sunday, including a 35-year-old woman who was later identified as Latifa Abouchakra.

Abouchakra is employed as a contributor to Iran’s pro-regime Press TV outlet.

In 2023, Abouchakra gained notoriety after she uploaded a video to social media expressing her satisfaction with the Hamas invasion of Israel and the massacre of some 1,200 people.

“Nothing will ever be able to take back this moment, this moment of triumph, this moment of resistance, this moment of surprise, this moment of humiliation on behalf of the Zionist entity. Nothing. Ever,” Abouchakra said.

During a Birmingham rally in October 2025, Abouchakra declared that she and other anti-Israel activists “reject” the State of Israel’s existence, calling it a form of “Jewish supremacy.”

Police arrested Abouchakra while she was en route to the launch meeting of the Anti-Zionist Movement.

Abouchakra had been slated to address the AZM event, which was ultimately canceled over the AZM’s overt support for terrorist groups including Hamas. The AZM issued a scathing condemnation of police on Sunday, accusing the department of working on behalf of “the Zionist lobby.”

“Today, in an act of political violence, West Midlands Police arrested Palestinian mother and journalist Latifa as she arrived to speak at our event,” AZM wrote. “The Zionist lobby’s malicious assault on AZM puts their power over Britain on full display.”

Other speakers who had been scheduled to address the AZM event included Rahmeh Aladwan, a doctor suspended over his antisemitic social media posts, and former University of Bristol professor David Miller, who was fired in 2021 over his comments on Jewish student groups and the State of Israel.
