US fears Netanyahu will resume Gaza war, Vance dispatched to ensure truce survives – report

The White House has dispatched Vance, Witkoff, and Kushner to Israel in a bid to pressure Netanyahu not to withdraw from Gaza truce after deadly Hamas attack, administration officials claim.

The Trump administration is concerned that Israel may withdraw from the shaky Gaza truce, following multiple Hamas violations of the ceasefire deal, and has dispatched senior officials to pressure Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu not to nix the agreement, multiple US officials say.

On Monday night, The New York Times published a report citing a number of Trump administration officials who said that there are growing concerns in the US that Israel will drop the Gaza truce.

Jerusalem has criticized Hamas for failing to return all 48 hostages – living and dead – within the 72-hour time frame specified in the Trump administration’s 20-point peace plan.

Hamas has yet to return the bodies of all 28 slain hostages, despite being obligated to do so by October 13th.

Since then, Israel has recorded multiple violations of the ceasefire by Gaza terrorists, including a deadly missile attack by Hamas forces in Rafah on an IDF armored personnel carrier which left two soldiers dead and three wounded.

While President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance both downplayed the Rafah attack – attributing it to rogue Hamas cells – and seemed to ignore other Hamas ceasefire violations, the administration is increasingly concerned Israel may respond to the attacks by resuming full hostilities with Hamas in Gaza.

According to the report, the White House is hoping that the American delegation, headed by Vice President Vance, will be able to convince Netanyahu to maintain the ceasefire.

Vance, who is expected to arrive in Israel on Tuesday, will join White House special envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff and President Trump’s son-in-law and confidant Jared Kushner, who landed in Israel on Monday.

Beyond keeping Israel in the ceasefire deal, the three will push for talks between Israel and Hamas for the implementation of the second phase of the Gaza peace plan, which includes additional IDF withdrawals from Gaza, the handing over of territory to a pan-Arab, pan-Islamic security force headed by Egypt, and the disarming of Hamas.
