Hamas threatens another October 7-style invasion of Israel

Hamas has reportedly warned Israeli officials through a senior UN representative that it is prepared to carry out another October 7-style massacre, potentially targeting Israelis at home and abroad.

Hamas has threatened to launch another October 7-style attack against Israel, warning that it could strike targets inside Israel, in Judea and Samaria, and abroad, according to Israeli media reports.

Senior Hamas representatives allegedly delivered the warning during a meeting with UN humanitarian coordinator Ramiz Alakbarov at his office in Gaza, asking him to transmit their message directly to Israeli officials.

However, Hamas has denied making the threat, while an official from Alakbarov’s office told the Saudi newspaper Asharq Al-Awsat that the UN representative had not met Hamas officials during his latest visit to Gaza.

Despite those denials, Israel’s Channel 13 reported Saturday evening that Alakbarov had conveyed the warning to Maj. Gen. Yoram Halevy, head of the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT).

Halevy subsequently documented the alleged threat in a letter addressed to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz, according to the report.

Senior Hamas officials “claimed that IDF activity in the Gaza Strip, the moving of the Yellow Line, and the cancellation of the [Palestinian] elections by the Palestinian Authority are leading Hamas to lose control in the field and clarified that they are unwilling to accept the continuation of this situation,” Halevy wrote, according to Channel 13.

“Against this backdrop, they threatened that, as they see fit, Hamas is ready to again carry out an attack such as the October 7 attack, and that it is prepared to act in this vein on any front in which this becomes possible — in the State of Israel, in Judea and Samaria, and abroad,” the letter continued.

“This is an unusual threat message, which hasn’t been previously conveyed in this level of bluntness and directness,” Halevy stressed.

The warning invokes the October 7, 2023, massacre, when thousands of Hamas-led terrorists breached Israel’s southern border, murdered approximately 1,200 people, and abducted 251 hostages into Gaza.

The explicit reference to attacks abroad also raises concerns extending beyond Israel’s borders, although the reported warning did not identify specific countries, targets, or operational plans.

Israeli security officials are reportedly examining whether Hamas currently possesses the ability to carry out another attack on the scale of October 7, given the extensive Israeli military presence in Gaza.

According to Ynet, Israel’s security cabinet has received intelligence assessments indicating that Hamas has intensified preparations for renewed fighting, including stockpiling weapons and transferring them into civilian areas.

The reported warning comes amid mounting military and financial pressure on Hamas as Israeli forces continue operations against the terror group in Gaza.

Under the ceasefire arrangement brokered by President Donald Trump last October, the Yellow Line separates Israeli-controlled territory from areas where Hamas continues to exercise authority.

Israeli forces have gradually expanded their positions westward, increasing the territory under IDF control. According to Israeli media reports, Israel now controls more than 60 percent of the Gaza Strip.

Hamas has cited these developments as evidence that its position is deteriorating, while Israel maintains that its continued military presence is necessary to prevent renewed attacks.

The terror group is also facing serious financial difficulties.

According to Ynet, Israeli security estimates indicate that Hamas needs approximately 90 million shekels ($29 million) each month to pay some 30,000 personnel, including members of its military wing and administrative staff.

The financial pressure comes as implementation of Trump’s Gaza peace plan remains stalled over Hamas’ refusal to surrender its weapons.

Israel has insisted that Hamas must disarm before further Israeli withdrawals can proceed, while the terror group continues to resist demands to dismantle its military capabilities.

The reported threat highlights the central security dilemma confronting Israel: Even after years of fighting and extensive military losses, Hamas remains armed, continues preparing for possible renewed hostilities, and, according to Israeli intelligence reports, is threatening another massacre.
