Air France resumes daily flights between Paris and Tel Aviv

The French national carrier resumes service to the Jewish State as other airlines continue to steer clear of Israel’s airspace.

French national carrier Air France is scheduled to resume flights to and from Israel on Tuesday, after cancelling its service to the Jewish State following a Houthi missile attack that impacted within the grounds of Ben Gurion Airport.

In a statement confirming their resumption of Israel routes, The Air France KLM Group said that it is “constantly monitoring developments in the geopolitical situation in the region to ensure the highest level of flight safety and security.”

The French carrier will operate one daily flight between Paris and Tel Aviv, Air France said.

Air France’s sales director for Israel Alon Netah said in the media release that the airline is “happy and excited to resume regular Air France flight services on the route to Israel.”

Netah added that “with the resumption of Air France flights on the route to Tel Aviv, Israeli passengers can travel via Charles de Gaulle airport to all Air France destinations in the world just in time for the holiday of Shavuot.”

But numerous foreign airlines are continuing to avoid servicing Israel, with several announcing that they had extended their suspensions of flights to the Jewish State for months.

British Airways said it will not resume service to Israel until August 1 at the earliest, citing “security concerns.”

International carriers that have suspended Israel routes until further notice include American Airlines, Turkish Airlines, Pegasus, Vueling, and Emirates.

Carriers expected to resume flying to Israel in the coming weeks include Lufthansa, United, Air India, Air Canada, and LOT.

Earlier in May, Michael O’Leary, the CEO of low-cost Irish carrier Ryanair said that the airline is “beginning to lose patience” with “flights to and from Tel Aviv” because of repeated Houthi missile attacks targeting the airport.

O’Leary hinted that Ryanair may permanently end service to the Jewish State, due to the uncertainty amid the ongoing multifront war.

“If they’re going to keep being disrupted by these security disruptions, frankly, we’d be better off sending those aircraft somewhere else in Europe,” O’Leary said.
