ISIS claimed responsibility for the deadly attack in London, while the UK exhibited an unyielding stance in the face of Islamic terrorism. 

The Islamic State (ISIS) terror group claimed responsibility for Wednesday’s terror attack in London, in which an Islamic terrorist ran his car into pedestrians and then stabbed a policeman, killing three and wounding 40.

The ISIS-linked Amaq news agency stated that the terrorist “was a soldier of the Islamic State who carried out the operation in response to calls for targeting citizens of the coalition” of countries fighting ISIS in Syria and Iraq.

ISIS has threatened to target the UK in the past.

“It is Islamist terrorism,” stated British premier Theresa May. “It is a perversion of a great faith.”

ISIS has claimed responsibility for attacks in several European cities, including Berlin, Brussels, Paris and Nice.

Seeking the Best Response to Terrorism

May set an unyielding tone Thursday in a sweeping statement before the House of Commons. While she honored the police, she also saluted the actions of millions of people who went about their daily routines, defying terrorism.

“As I speak millions will be boarding trains and airplanes to travel to London, and to see for themselves the greatest city on Earth,” she stated. “It is in these actions – millions of acts of normality – that we find the best response to terrorism —a response that denies our enemies their victory, that refuses to let them win, that shows we will never give in.”

Parliament began a moment of silence at 9:33 a.m., honoring murdered officer Keith Palmer, who was stabbed in the attack.

“Those who carry out such wicked and depraved acts as we saw yesterday can never triumph in our country and we must ensure it is not violence, hatred or division but decency and tolerance that prevails in our country,” Trade Secretary Liam Fox said.

“Hear, hear!” lawmakers from all parties responded in unison.

Also on Thursday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu strongly condemned the terror attack and sent his condolences to the victims.

“The citizens of Israel were among the first to face the challenge of vehicular ramming and stabbing attacks. We must stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the citizens of Britain and the entire civilized world against radical Islamic terrorism,” he stated.
