Palestinian Authority (PA) Chairman Mahmoud Abbas said on Wednesday at a meeting with his party’s Fatah Revolutionary Council that he will be meeting in Paris with outgoing French President Francois Hollande on February 7.The purpose of the meeting, according to the Palestinian news agency Wafa, is to create a “clear and defined mechanism” to promote the conclusions of the recent international summit in Paris that called for the creation of a PA state.“The Paris conference did not end on January 15, said Ahmad Majdalani, a member of the Palestine Liberation Organization’s executive committee, to Jerusalem Post. “There are additional steps that need to be taken by the participants in the conference.”The conference ended with a call for Israel and the PA to commit themselves to a two-state solution with each other and to avoid making any unilateral moves that threaten such an outcome.France originally launched an initiative of its own in 2015, to create a PA state within a timeframe of just 18 months.By: World Israel News Staff Francois HollandeFrench peace initiativeMahmoud AbbasParis Peace Conference
