If it had happened minutes earlier it would have been called a catastrophe.On Monday afternoon, a Hamas missile struck a bus in the Shaar Hanegev Region near the Gaza border. Only minutes before, 50 young Israeli soldiers had exited just before it exploded.According to people at the scene, the soldiers disembarked only moments before the Russian-made Kornet anti-tank missile struck the back part of the bus.One soldier, 19, was gravely injured. He happened to be standing near the bus and received shrapnel to his upper body, chest and head, according to Ynet news. He was evacuated to a hospital.The bus attack was the start of the latest wave of violence, in which Hamas launched 100s of mortars and rockets at Israel, killing one man in the Israeli coastal city of Ashkelon and wounding dozens of others.Israel’s air force responded with heavy strikes in the Gaza Strip, knocking out Hamas military and political installations.The Israeli government is deliberating its next steps.
