Hormuz deal? New details emerge on US-Iran ceasefire talks

New details revealed by Axios suggest the proposed 60-day ceasefire extension between the US and Iran could include the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, the removal of Iranian naval mines, and partial sanctions relief in exchange for limits on Tehran’s nuclear ambitions.

According to the draft framework, Iran would allow free navigation through the strategic waterway without tolls, while the US would ease some sanctions and lift its blockade on Iranian ports, allowing Tehran to resume oil exports.

The reported deal would also address the Lebanon front, with US officials saying the war between Israel and Hezbollah could end if “Hezbollah behaves” and both sides maintain the ceasefire.

However, major issues, including Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile and long-term nuclear capabilities, reportedly remain unresolved and are expected to dominate future negotiations.
