IDF thwarts stabbing attack in Judea and Samaria

IDF forces thwarted a stabbing attack in the Gush Etzion region of Judea and Samaria. The terrorist succumbed to his wounds.

A Palestinian terrorist was the only casualty in an attempted stabbing attack at the Gush Etzion junction in Judea.

Shortly before 3 p.m., “a large force of IDF soldiers have deployed as rioters tried to blockade a security station under Israeli control,” TPS reported.

An initial investigation indicates that a Palestinian Arab, armed with a Swiss army knife, ran towards a group of security forces, the report continues.

“A soldier watching from an adjacent guard tower noticed the attacker and warned forces on the ground. The soldiers then identified the man and neutralized him.”

The assailant died of his wounds.

IDF soldiers were on high alert in the Old City of Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria and across the country as thousands of Muslims returned to weekly Friday prayer services at the Temple Mount after a week-long boycott.

Clashes also broke outside Rachel’s Tomb, near Bethlehem, where the IDF responded with rubber bullets and tear gas, and in several other cities and villages in the region.
