Jewish youth’s finger sliced off in Paris attack

The assailants in an attack against two Jewish youths in Paris on Thursday shouted, “Dirty Jews! You’re going to die!”

Two Jewish brothers were reportedly abducted and beaten on Thursday in a suburb of the French capital of Paris. The assailants appeared to be of Middle Eastern descent, the victims said.

According to a report published by the National Bureau for Vigilance Against Anti-Semitism (BNVCA), the brothers had been forced off a main road onto a side street by another vehicle from which the passengers shouted, “Dirty Jews! You’re going to die!”

The brothers were then surrounded by the passengers from the other car as well as by several patrons of a nearby bar, who beat, kicked and punched them repeatedly and sawed off one of the brother’s fingers.

The victims were hospitalized. An investigation has been opened.

Anti-Semitic attacks have surged recently not only in France, but in other parts of Europe as well. The United Kingdom experienced a record number of anti-Semitic attacks in 2016.
