Jerusalem stabbing attack injures 3, terrorist killed

Three victims in a stabbing attack in Jerusalem’s Old City on Saturday sustained light-to-moderate injuries.

A Palestinian terrorist was killed on Saturday afternoon in the Muslim Quarter of Jerusalem’s Old City after wounding three in a stabbing attack.

The stabber, identified by Palestinian media as Ahmad Jazal, from a Palestinian village located in Samaria near the city of Nablus (Shechem), had attemped to flee the scene after stabbing two civilians ages 18 and 20. Jazal then stabbed one of the border policemen pursuing him. Another policeman responded by shooting the terrorist, who eventually succumbed to his wounds.

“Police units and Border Police quickly searched the area and received intelligence that the terrorist was heading toward a house in the Muslim Quarter,” explained Police Superintendent Micky Rosenfeld, according to the Jerusalem Post.

“Police units entered the building and the attacker stabbed one of the officers. The other officer responded and shot the terrorist.”

The three victims sustained light-to-moderate injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

“The terrorist stabbed two Israeli civilians in their late teens who were walking down Hagai Street, leaving them in light and moderate condition, before fleeing the scene,” Rosenfeld added.

As a result of the stabbing attack, Jerusalem police increased security in the Old City for the rest of the Jewish Sabbath (Shabbat).
