Arab-Israeli MK to attend anti-Israel UN forum

An Arab-Israeli Member of Knesset will address a forum on ending Israel’s 50-year “occupation” of Judea and Samaria.

Arab-Israeli Member of Knesset (MK) Aida Touma-Suleiman will address a UN Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People (CEIRPP) that will focus on ending Israel’s 50-year “occupation” of Judea and Samaria, since the 1967 Six-Day War.

The forum, at the UN headquarters in New York on June 29-30, will address “the Path to Independence, Justice and Peace for Palestine” on the first day and “creating the Space for Human Rights, Development, and a Just Peace” on the second.

Israeli Ambassador to the UN Danny Danon expressed his fury at the MK’s participation in a statement.

“It is shameful that a member of Knesset is abusing her position and is working together with the Palestinians to harm Israel at the UN,” he said.

“Her presence at this anti-Israel gathering, with the sole purpose of defaming our country, crosses all red lines.”

Touma-Suleiman responded, claiming that it was Danon’s statement that was “crossing all red lines.”

“My job, as the representative of a public that supports the end of the occupation and the establishment of a Palestinian state in the 1967 borders with east Jerusalem as its capital, is to make my voice heard on every stage possible,” she said. “It’s time to expose the ugly face of the occupation.”

Several other Israelis will attend the forum, including former foreign minister Shlomo Ben-Ami and Hagai El-Ad, executive director of B’Tselem, an NGO that has been funded and financed by the European Union and is focused on attacking Israel’s policies in Judea and Samaria.

Most recently, Danon criticized the UN Secretary-General António Guterres who, in a statement released on the 50th anniversary of the Six-Day War, called on Israel to end its “occupation” of Judea and Samaria.
