On Thursday, terrorist Asam Barghouti has confessed to the murder of two soldiers, and the killing of an unborn baby in double shooting attacks in December 2018 at the Ofra and Givat Assaf junctions in the Binyamin region of Samaria, reports Arutz Sheva.

On Dec. 13, Barghouti shot and killed Sgt. Yosef Cohen and Staff Sgt. Yoval Mor Yosef at the Givat Assaf junction. Both soldiers served as infantrymen in the IDF’s Netzah Yehuda Kfir Brigade, a special unit for religious soldiers.

Barghouti also wounded a civilian woman and  IDF soldier Netanel Filber in the attack.

Barghouti was also involved in the attack with his brother, Salah, at the bus station near the town of Ofra in the Binyamin region of Samaria on the last night of Hanukkah. In that attack, seven Israelis were injured including Shira Ish-Ran who lost her unborn child as a result of the shooting.

Salah Barghouti was killed when he resisted arrest by the IDF.

It took nearly a month before Barghouti was tracked down to his hiding place in Ramallah. At the time of his arrest, the IDF found a Russian-style Kalashnikov rifle, large quantities of ammunition and night-vision devices in the apartment.

The capture of Barghouti was carried out in a joint operation by the Israel Defense Forces, the Shin Bet and Israel’s Yamam, a counter-terrorist unit that also carries out police duties akin to SWAT in the U.S.

The Shin Bet, or Shabak, Israel’s internal security service, said that Asam planned on carrying out additional attacks.
