The baby boy delivered by emergency C-section after his mother was shot in the abdomen by a Palestinian terrorist has died.

On Sunday evening, Palestinian terrorists fired at a group of Israelis in a drive-by shooting outside the Israeli community of Ofra, in the Binyamin region. Seven were wounded, including 21-year-old Shira Ish-Ran, who was in her 30th week of pregnancy.

She was hit in the abdomen and critically wounded. Her husband, Amichai Ish-Ran, sustained injuries to his legs. They were rushed to Shaare Zedek Hospital in Jerusalem, where the baby was delivered and put in intensive care.

Although the mother’s medical condition has improved, the baby passed away Wednesday afternoon.

“We regretfully announce the death of Shira and Amichai’s child four days after the attack, despite the efforts of the medical doctors to save him,” the hospital said in a statement, Arutz-7 reported.

To the memory of the baby son of Amichai and Shira Ish-Ran, true heroes,” said President Reuven Rivlin. “We are with you, embracing you, and will not rest until this despicable terrorism is uprooted.”

“Our hearts are with Shira and Amichai over the passing of their four-day-old son who did not even have a name. The murderers are abhorrent, the most deviant criminals on earth. The security forces are pursuing them and I hope that there will be news soon on this matter. We will not slacken until we find them and deal with them to the fullest extent of the law,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated.

Later that night, Israeli forces captured the terrorists responsible for the attack, killing one who tried to escape. That terrorist is none other than Salah Barghouti, 29, son of Hamas leader Omar Barghouti. An unspecified number of additional suspects were arrested.
