President Donald Trump slammed the ongoing criminal trial of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in an explosive post on social media, urging prosecutors to drop the case and praising the premier’s leadership in the recent Israel-Iran conflict.

Writing on his Truth Social platform on Thursday, Trump said he was “shocked” to hear that state prosecutors are “continuing their ridiculous witch hunt” against Netanyahu, whom he described as a “warrior” and great hero.”

Trump said that he and Netanyahu had “just went through HELL together, fighting a very tough and brilliant longtime enemy of Israel,” adding that Netanyahu was an incredible leader with intense love for his homeland.

Calling the continued criminal prosecution of Netanyahu “unthinkable,” Trump stressed that the trial is a “witch hunt” that should be “cancelled immediately.”

Alternatively, Trump wrote that Netanyahu — whom he stressed is a “great hero” — could be granted a pardon.

“There is nobody in Israel’s History that fought harder or more competently than Bibi Netanyahu,” Trump continued, using the premier’s nickname.

“It was the United States of America that saved Israel, and now it is going to be the United States of America that saves Bibi Netanyahu. THIS TRAVESTY OF ‘JUSTICE’ CAN NOT BE ALLOWED!” he added.

Netanyahu’s Likud party shared a Hebrew-language translation of Trump’s remarks on its X account.

The premier has long maintain that he is innocent of that the criminal charges he is facing, saying that he is a victim of the Deep State and politically-motivated conspiracy aimed at ousting him from power.

In a March video posted to his social media accounts, Netanyahu likened himself to Trump, saying they were both targeted by a Deep State that aims to prevent right-wing leaders from effectively governing their countries.

“In America and in Israel, when a strong right-wing leader wins an election, the leftist Deep State weaponizes the justice system to thwart the people’s will. They won’t win in either place! We stand strong together,” Netanyahu posted in English from his official X account at the time.
