A senior official in Iran’s paramilitary Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps is behind a series of terrorist plots around the world targeting Israeli and Jewish targets, the Israeli government said Sunday afternoon.

According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office and the Mossad, Sardar Amar, a senior commander in Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) who heads the “Corps 11,000” unit under Quds Force commander Esmail Qaani, has masterminded multiple terror plots around the world.

The Mossad said that its coordinated operations with intelligence and security services in Israel and abroad succeeded in thwarting “dozens of terror channels” since October 7, 2023, when Iran dramatically intensified its global campaign against Israeli and Jewish targets.

These counterterrorism operations “saved many lives” and led to criminal and diplomatic action against those involved, the agency said.

After the Mossad’s exposure of Amar’s global terror network, law enforcement in Australia and Germany took unprecedented diplomatic steps against Iranian officials.

Australia expelled Iran’s ambassador and declared him persona non grata, while Germany summoned the Iranian ambassador for a formal reprimand. Both countries, the Mossad said, sought to send a “clear message of zero tolerance for terrorism on their soil.”

The Mossad described Amar’s network as one of Iran’s most significant terror mechanisms, relying on foreign recruits, criminal intermediaries, and covert communications to conceal Tehran’s role.

Mossad officials said the network’s repeated operational failures have “severely damaged Iran’s ability to operate below the radar” and forced it to pay a “heavy diplomatic price.”

For years, Iran has used terrorism as a strategic tool to strike at Israel and Jewish civilians worldwide while avoiding direct military or economic repercussions, the Mossad said.

“The ongoing international campaign against Iranian terrorism is stripping Iran of its deniability and immunity,” the Israeli security agency said Sunday, pledging to continue working with partners “to thwart Iranian and proxy threats and defend Israeli citizens and Jewish communities worldwide.”
