The official trailer for the sequel to the movie that made Israeli model and actress Gal Gadot a superstar was released on Sunday.
Gal Gadot released a teaser of the trailer on her Twitter account on Saturday night.
The movie, titled Wonder Woman 1984, is set in the 1980s. It depicts events following the first film, which was set during World War I.
Deadline Hollywood reported the net profit of the first film at $252.9 million, making it the 6th most profitable release of 2017. It was the highest-grossing film of the summer that year.
Time magazine’s Stephanie Zacharek said the movie was a “cut above nearly all the superhero movies that have been trotted out over the past few summers” and said Gadot’s performance was “charming” and “marvelous.”
In Wonder Woman 1984, the title character will battle the Soviet Union and an arch-foe from the DC Comic, The Cheetah, played by actress Kristen Wiig, known mainly for comedic roles.
Gadot is also starring in Netflix-produced Red Notice, with Ryan Reynolds and Duane Johnson. It is set for release in late 2020.
It was recently reported that Gal Gadot and her husband Jaron Varsano are teaming up together to produce an American version of the Israeli crime drama “Queens.”
In season one of the Israeli version of Queens, the men in the Malka family crime syndicate are murdered by a rival mob, leaving the women to take over the family’s criminal enterprise.
