By World Israel News Staff American real estate developer Mohammed Hadid, the father of models Gigi and Bella Hadid — all prominent anti-Israel influencers — made a surprise statement on Wednesday calling for the release of the Israeli hostages in Gaza. Hadid, a millionaire property developer who was born in Nazareth to a Muslim Arab family, has repeatedly spread anti-Israel propaganda since the onset of the Israel-Hamas war on October 7, 2023. He has compared the IDF’s war against the terror group to the Nazi Holocaust of Jews, while his daughters have falsely accused Israel of harvesting dead Palestinians’ organs. But in a phone call with Hebrew-language entertainment news show HaTzinor, Hadid unexpectedly condemned Hamas’ abduction of Israeli civilians on October 7 and expressed his sympathy for their families. “Nobody should touch civilians. Nobody. I don’t care who it is,” Hadid said in the call. “Taking hostages is wrong. I feel for the families of the Israeli hostages as much as I do for the Palestinians,” Hadid said. “Nobody should be getting hurt like this is. We are in a modern society. This is crazy. This is heart-breaking…the families of the hostages are in pain.” A reporter from HaTzinor asked Hadid why he did not call for the release of the hostages on his social media accounts, where he regularly posts anti-Israel content. “Can’t talk for both sides, you can talk for one side only. Otherwise, you confuse the issues,” he replied. In April 2024, Hadid sent homophobic and racist messages to Rep. Ritchie Torres (D-NY) over the progressive lawmaker’s public support for Israel. “You[‘re] worse than the rats of New York sewage system. They have bigger brains than you. You might get a job as bouncer at gay bar,” Hadid wrote to Torres, according to screenshots of the conversation viewed by the New York Post. “You are just unusual Black and colorful mouth for Israeli and AIPAC and looking for payday of over 500K,” he added.
