A Palestinian terrorist stabbed an IDF soldier in the head Thursday morning near Hebron, causing him light wounds to his face.

The terrorist tried to stab another soldier and then was shot dead by another member of the force.

The soldier was treated by medics at the scene of the attack and then was evacuated to Hadassah Ein Kerem hospital in Jerusalem.

According to initial reports, the IDF unit was contending with a riot while manning a checkpoint, and the terrorist used the mayhem as cover to get close to the unit and then attacked the soldiers.

The incident occurred near Route 60, a major route in Judea and Samaria, and just meters from the Jewish town of Kiryat Arba.

The terrorist was identified a as a 23-year-old Palestinian, a local resident.

Hours later, an IDF force shot and killed another Palestinian terrorist who tried to stab them near Beit Hadassah inside the city. No one on the force was harmed.

Palestinians rioted at the spot after the incident.

The Hebron area has been the scene of multiple such attacks in the past two weeks, as the terrorists have moved their focus away from Jerusalem to Hebron. This most recent attack was the sixth such attack in Hebron this week.

Just yesterday, a Palestinian terrorist attempted to stab IDF soldiers in Hebron near the entrance to the Jewish community of Tel Rumeida. IDF soldiers, performing a routine security check, noticed that the man was furtively pulling out a knife and immediately shot him.
