Hamas on Thursday issued a stern warning against Israel for what it alleged was its “heavy bombardment and attacks on Palestinian civilians in Gaza.”

“The Palestinian resistance is defending its people against the ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza as part of its national duty,” Hamas’ spokesperson Abdel Latif al-Qanoa said.

Hamas terrorists fired over 180 rockets at Israel on Wednesday, repeatedly setting off Red Code alerts that sent them running for cover.

The Iron Dome defense system intercepted 30 rockets, while several of the explosive projectiles fell inside Israeli towns, causing several injuries, some of them serious, and extensive damage.

The Israeli Air Force (IAF) responded by attacking over 150 Hamas terror targets throughout the Strip, including a cement factory used by Hamas to build terror tunnels, a maritime terror tunnel shaft, a weapons manufacturing and storage facility, and several terror sites in military compounds.

In one of the IAF’s retaliatory attacks, a 23-year-old woman and her one-and-a-half-year-old baby girl were accidentally killed. The father was seriously injured.

In a tweet on Thursday morning, al-Qanoa held Israel responsible for “its heavy bombardment and attacks on Palestinian civilians in Gaza which killed a baby, her mother and a young Palestinian man.”

Al-Qanoa further charged that the “Israeli aggression on Gaza reflects its intention to murder innocent civilians.”

The Hamas spokesperson warned that Israel will “pay a price for its crimes against the Palestinian people.”

Hamas “will now allow the imposition of new rules of engagement on the ground,” he stated.
