Iran’s Parliament Speaker: ‘Wicked Zionist’ Netanyahu distorts Persian history, has not studied Torah

The Iranian Parliamentary Speaker said the “wicked Zionist” Netanyahu distorted pre-Islamic Persian history during his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Iran’s Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani accused Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of not only distorting history during his meeting on Thursday with Russian President Vladimir Putin, but also of demonstrating a lack of Torah study.

“(Netanyahu) has distorted the Iranians’ pre-Islam historical era and attempted to misrepresent events,” Larijani said, during an open session in Parliament on Sunday, according to the semi-official Iranian Fars News Agency.

“Apparently, (Netanyahu) neither is familiar with the history nor has studied the Torah,” continued Larijani. “Of course, nothing more than presenting such lies is expected from a wicked Zionist.”

Larijani was responding to Netanyahu’s remarks during a meeting with President Vladimir Putin on Thursday, in which he appealed to the Russian leader to work on preventing the creation of an Iranian front against Israel in Syria, by referencing the Book of Esther’s story about the miraculous reversal of a decree to annihilate the Jewish people. A senior Persian Empire official, Haman, had originally received approval from the Persian King Achashverosh.

“Some 2,500 years ago in ancient Persia, there was an attempt to wipe out the Jews, which did not succeed, and which we commemorate with this holiday,” said Netanyahu.

“Today, Iran, the heir of the Persians, has similar designs to wipe out the State of the Jews,” Netanyahu continued. “They say this clearly, and it is etched on their ballistic missiles.”
