Israeli envoy tells BDS radicals: ‘We won’t be silent’ against your lies

BDS protesters disrupted Ambassador Danon’s lecture at Columbia University, calling for a boycott of Israel as well as for the end of the Jewish state.

Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations Danny Danon said that Israel will not back down in the face of incitement and lies during an address on Monday evening to approximately 300 students at Columbia University.

The ambassador was directing his remarks at the dozens of protesters who held signs and chanted slogans such as “Boycott Israel” and “From the (Jordan) river to the (Mediterranean) sea, Palestine will be free!”

“We will not be quiet in the face of the lies that you spread about Israel,” Danon told the protesters. “We will continue to make our voice heard and we will continue to insist on our righteous truth.”

“Instead of inciting and lying, sit down in the seats and maybe you will learn something,” he suggested. “This is precisely the problem of the Palestinians. They lie, incite and don’t recognize Israel’s right to exist.”

Danon also expressed a firm tone of conviction that Israel will remain strong, despite their efforts to destroy it.

“I have an announcement for those students,” Danon affirmed. “The people of Israel will never leave the Land of Israel.”
