On September 27, 2016, Kim Kardashian West posted a request through social media for her tens of millions of followers to help find a matching bone marrow donor for Adam Krief, a 31-year-old Jewish-Israeli father of three.

Within a few days, more than 10,000 fans answered that call, resulting in five new donor-recipient matches through the Gift of Life’s bone marrow registry as well as one transplant.

A match for Krief was also found within a couple of months but, unfortunately, he developed complications and did not survive.

The Gift of Life will honor Kardashian for her life-saving action at its gala on October 29 in Los Angeles. Krief’s widow, Lia Mantel Krief, will present the celebrity with the Gift of Life Impact Award.
