A Palestinian was shot and wounded by IDF forces on Thursday on the border with Gaza as he attempted to damage the security infrastructure in the area and possibly infiltrate the country.

IDF forces stationed on the border spotted the Palestinian scaling the fence and shot him. They arrested him shortly after. He was found to be carrying a knife and wire cutters.

The suspect, who was seriously wounded, received initial treatment by Israeli medics and then was airlifted to an Israeli hospital for further treatment.

The IDF noted a recent sharp increase in the number of terror incidents on the Gaza border, carried out under the cover of the Hamas-led March of Return riots.

This latest incident came amid the daily violence on the Israel-Gaza borderorchestrated by Hamas, the Islamic terror group that rules the Strip and calls for Israel’s destruction.

Hamas has organized a series of protests at the border under the “March of Return” banner, which the terrorist group says will continue until May 15, the 70th anniversary of the State of Israel, which the Palestinians observe as Nakba Day, meaning Day of Catastrophe.
