WATCH: Today’s ‘Supermoon’ is largest since Israel became a nation (1948)

Monday’s ‘Supermoon’ will bring it within 85 miles of the moon’s closest possible approach to Earth, making it the largest visible moon since 1948, the year that the State of Israel was created.

Extreme tides will accompany the rare event, which is not expected to take place again until 2034.

The photo below of the Supermoon was taken outside the Old City walls in Jerusalem.
