The Jewish Electoral Institute, a new group founded by Jewish Democrats, published a poll Wednesday, ahead of the midterm elections, showing American Jews strongly favor the Democrats and dislike Trump, the Jewish Telegraphic Agency (JTA) reported.

The poll, carried out by The Mellman Group, shows US Jews favoring the Democrats 74-26.

Despite their distaste for the president, the respondents are evenly divided with regard to his policies on Israel, with 51 percent approving and 49 percent not approving, within the margin of error of 3.5 percentage points, according to the JTA report.

However, Israel is not a priority among Jewish voters, who appear to show more concern about domestic issues, the poll found. Just 52 percent ranked Israel as “very important,” while a large majority ranked health care (83%), the Supreme Court (90%), Medicare and Social Security (84%) as “very important.”

“The respondents were selected randomly from lists of people who have opted to do online surveys and then asked if they were Jewish. The survey was based on 800 replies completed between Oct. 2 and 11,” JTA said.
