A Palestinian terrorist wounded an IDF soldier Thursday after ramming his car into him at the checkpoint near the Palestinian town of Hawara, south of Shechem (Nablus) in Samaria.

The incident occurred while the soldier was on patrol with his unit. Other members of the unit responded by shooting the terrorist. He died of his wounds shortly after.

The soldier, in his early 20s, sustained light wounds to his legs and was evacuated to Beilinson hospital in Petah Tikvah.

Hawara is a regular flashpoint which has seen multiple and almost daily Palestinian attacks on Israeli vehicles. IDF soldiers are stationed in the town to prevent these attacks against Israel motorists driving on its main route

This incident was the latest in a long series of almost daily Palestinian terror attacks that have plagued Israelis over the course of the past three months, claiming the lives of 24 victims and wounding some 285.
