UK anti-Semitic hate crime investigation targets Corbyn, Labour

Police in the United Kingdom have opened up a criminal probe over accusations of anti-Semitic hate crimes within the Labour Party.

The Metropolitan Police said on Friday that it is acting on a dossier of information provided by the Campaign Against Antisemitism to London police chief Cressida Dick.

The dossier consists of more than 80 pages of anti-Semitic vitriol by Labour figures, including Holocaust denial and wishes to harm Jewish Labour members.

Some of its perpetrators confessed that they were behind some of the hatred featured in the dossier–just one of many dossiers assembled by the party’s internal Compliance Unit by Labour’s Disputes Panel, chaired by Claudia Webb. She previously defended former London Mayor Ken Livingstone, claiming that the “combined machinery of state, political and mainstream elite” are striving to malign Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn with “false allegations.”

Joe Glasman, head of political and government investigations at the Campaign Against Antisemitism, said: “The secret internal dossier contains over 80 pages of anti-Semitic hatred by Labour Party members, including numerous admissions of guilt, but the Labour Party kept the dossier secret and did not even tell Jewish Labour MPs who were directly threatened within it, despite police considering threats to their safety to be so severe as to warrant special police protection.”

Glasman added, “it is absolutely right that police officers have opened a criminal investigation, which we hope will encompass both the anti-Semitic hate crimes and the Labour Party’s complicity by concealing its evidence. Jeremy Corbyn is an anti-Semite under whose leadership the once fiercely anti-racist Labour Party has become institutionally anti-Semitic and an existential threat to British Jews.”
