Vicious anti-Semitism at prestigious London School of Economics

A British watchdog is launching a formal complaint against the London School of Economics for tolerating vicious anti-Semitism and harassing Jewish students who protested an event with a notorious anti-Israel activist.

When Jewish students at the prestigious London School of Economics protested a book launch for notorious anti-Israel activist Richard Falk, security staff reportedly tried grabbing their signs.

Falk delivered a lecture on Monday at the London School of Economics (LSE) to launch his new book, Palestine’s Horizon.

As reported by the London-based Campaign Against Antisemitism (CAS), a “volunteer-led charity dedicated to exposing and countering antisemitism through education and zero-tolerance enforcement of the law,” university security tried confiscating the signs held in protest by Jewish students.

Furthermore, “A well-known anti-Semite in the crowd allegedly told the Jewish students: ‘What happened to Jews in Germany was because Jews misbehaved.’ Stunned audience members asked him to repeat what he had said and he did.”

After Jewish and pro-Israel protesters were ejected from the room, another audience member and supporter of Falk recommended the works of notorious Holocaust denier David Irving, the British Jewish News reported.

Falk, a Princeton University professor emeritus and the United Nation’s former Special Rapporteur for Human Rights in Palestine, had co-produced a UN commission report urging “swift action to oppose and end” Israeli “apartheid.”

The report, titled “Israeli Practices towards the Palestinian People and the Question of Apartheid: Palestine and the Israeli Occupation,” was so biased that it was rejected by the UN.

As noted by CAS, Falk had “been denounced by the United Kingdom on at least three separate occasions for antisemitism, as detailed by UN Watch.”

For example, “in 2012,” the CAS writes, “the Foreign and Commonwealth Office condemned Falk for providing the cover endorsement of a virulently anti-Semitic book that describes Jews as Nazis and which asks whether ‘Hitler might have been right after all.’”

Campaign Against Antisemitism wrote to the University of East London and Middlesex University to demand that Falk’s book launch events there, scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday respectively, be cancelled immediately. They are also lodging a formal complaint with LSE and the Higher Education Funding Council for England.
