European authorities fear ISIS will attack Western targets with chemical weapons, which are already in place.

A briefing document compiled by the European Union (EU) reveals that the Islamic State (ISIS) terror organization has smuggled weapons of mass destruction (WMD) into Europe, and the EU fears ISIS will deploy them in a pending attack.

According to a report in the UK’s Daily Mail, ISIS has already smuggled chemical and biological weapons into the EU and has recruited chemists and biologists who have the know-how to properly use the WMD’s.

“At present, European citizens are not seriously contemplating the possibility that extremist groups might use chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear (CBRN) materials during attacks in Europe. Under these circumstances, the impact of such an attack, should it occur, would be even more destabilising,” the report warns.

“We are dealing with a very serious, well-resourced, determined international terrorist organisation that is now active on the streets of Europe,” the Mail quotes Rob Wainwright, head of Europol, as saying after the Islamic terror attacks in Paris that killed 132. “This represents the most serious terrorist threat faced in Europe for 10 years.”

He also warned that that ISIS had serious capabilities in terms of “resources and manpower.”

Thousands of European have traveled to Syria to fight along ISIS. They have returned to their home countries, and authorities fear they will use their knowledge, acquired in the battlefield, to establish terror cell and attack Western targets.

“’ISIL/Da’esh has [ISIS] recruited and continues to recruit hundreds of foreign fighters, including some with degrees in physics, chemistry and computer science, who experts believe have the ability to manufacture lethal weapons from raw substances,” the report said.

Authorities and intelligence agencies are on high alert and scouring the Continent for possible terror cells and signs of WMD’s, as “’Interpol’s monthly CBRN intelligence reports show numerous examples of attempts to acquire, smuggle or use CBRN materials.”

Shortly after the Paris attacks, French Prime Minister Manual Valls warned that Islamic terrorists might at some point use chemical or biological weapons.

“Terrorism hit France not because of what it is doing in Iraq and Syria … but for what it is,” Valls told the lower house of Parliament. He added, “We know that there could also be a risk of chemical or biological weapons.”

However, Valls did not say there was a specific threat involving such weapons.

Evidence from the battlefields in Syria and Iraq shows that ISIS has already deployed chemical weapons against its enemies. Several reports from various sources over a course of months have warned of ISIS’ destructive abilities and its motivation to use them.

There has also been a report in October 2014 that ISIS is experimenting on biological weapons, and specifically the Ebola virus, which it intends to deploy on American soil. They intend to use Ebola-infected terrorists as human weapons who will transmit the deadly and highly-contagious disease to the US and the West.
