IDF forces on Thursday morning demolished the home of Ala Qabha.

The Palestinian village of Barta’a is the village in which Qabha’s home is located.  In March, two IDF soldiers — Captain Ziv Daos and Sergeant Netanel Kahalani — were killed by Qabha in a car-ramming attack near the Jewish community of Mevo Dotan.

The Menashe Brigade, Border Police and the Civil Administration cooperated to carry out the demolition.

Israel uses home demolitions as a deterrent to future terror attacks. A 2011 study found that demolitions are effective at preventing terrorist attacks.

Members of the Kedem Brigade, Daos’s unit, also took part in the demolition.

Here is video footage of IDF forces destroying the house from Kan, Israel’s public broadcaster:

When Qabha carried out the terror attack he was hurt in the attack and was evacuated to the Hillel Yaffe Medical Center in Hadera, where he was interrogated.

In April 2017, he was released after serving time as a security prisoner.

Qabha initially claimed the ramming attack was an accident but he later changed his story saying he intended to kill IDF soldiers after undergoing Shin Bet interrogation.

Hamas said that the attack “proves the intifada is going on” and noted that it was carried out 100 days after the US’s decision to move the embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

Daos was a company commander with the IDF’s search and rescue brigade. Kahalani was a driver in the Menashe Territorial Brigade, which carries out routine security operations.
