President Donald Trump is to address the annual Israeli American Council (IAC) National Summit, scheduled to take place in December in Hollywood, Florida.

The significance for the president is said to center around the key role of Trump supporter, and financial magnate, Sheldon Adelson in the organization and the venue of the event, the swing-state of Florida.

“For an organization as young as ours, it is a tremendous honor to host U.S. President Trump who comes for the first time to speak to an apolitical Jewish organization. This is important not only for the IAC but for the entire pro-Israeli community in America who believes in strong ties between the countries,” said IAC Chief Executive Officer Shoham Nicolet in a statement.

The council says that its mission is “to build an engaged and united Israeli-American community that strengthens the Israeli and Jewish identity of our next generation, the American Jewish community, and the bond between the peoples of the United States and the State of Israel.”

The other speakers at the summit offer a range of ideologies in Israeli politics from Likud MK Gideon Saar to Democratic Union leader MK Nitzan Horowitz.

Elan Carr, the U.S. special envoy to monitor and combat anti-Semitism, is also on the schedule to address the gathering.

The IAC touts the event as “one of the most high-profile and largest gatherings in the Jewish world,” saying that the summit aims to discuss a range of subjects, “from business and philanthropy to education, language, and community building, technology, and social change.”

The Israeli-American community is believed to number in the hundreds of thousands.
