Hamas reportedly moving Israeli hostages above ground in Gaza City as IDF operation expands, with terrorists using captives as human shields to force Israel to limit attacks.

Hamas terrorists operating in Gaza City have removed Israeli hostages held in the Gaza Strip from confinement in underground tunnel networks, according to reports Sunday night, in order to use them as human shields in a bid to limit IDF operations in the area.

On Sunday night, Merav Gilboa-Dalal spoke with Israel’s Galei Tzahal radio regarding the condition of her son, Guy Gilboa-Dalal, who has been held captive in Gaza since October 7, 2023.

Gilboa-Dalal said that she was recently told that her son is being held in solitary confinement above ground in Gaza, where his captors are using him as a human shield.

“I was informed that Guy is being held alone above ground in Gaza, serving as a human shield,” Merav said.

“Don’t try to ask me anything else. There are many things I want to say, but I’m holding back out of concern for my son’s safety. When he comes home, maybe I’ll scream louder, maybe I’ll shake things up more.”

“I thought this was the worst nightmare of my life. But now I know my son is being used as a human shield, and that is the absolute lowest point.”

Last week, Hamas released a video showing Guy being held in the back seat of a car, clearly above ground.

According to Palestinian sources in the Gaza Strip cited in a report by Kan, Israel’s public broadcaster, Guy is not the only hostage who has been transferred out of the tunnel networks for use as a human shield.

The sources claimed that Hamas has relocated multiple hostages to homes and tents in Gaza City, hoping to prevent the IDF from operating in sensitive areas out of fear Israeli forces could accidentally hit the hostages.

The report comes as Israeli forces continue to consolidate IDF control over parts of Gaza City, with some 40% of the city already captured. The Israeli cabinet voted last month to seize the entire city, a plan that would include the mass evacuation of virtually all of northern Gaza’s civilian population.
