The IDF continues to act on its promise to respond to any and all fire that threatens its citizens.The IDF attacked a Syrian military position in the Golan Heights on Wednesday in response to a mortar round fired from Syria into Israel earlier in the day.The mortar round exploded in an open space, causing no injuries or damage.The IDF said the target it attacked was a Syrian army artillery battery.“The IDF will not tolerate any attempt to harm Israel’s sovereignty and the safety of its citizens. The IDF views the Syrian regime as responsible for activities in its territory,” the IDF stated. The incident appears to be an incident of fire spilling over from the Syrian civil war into Israeli territory, after a few months of quiet on the border.
