Netanyahu: No agreement yet with Trump administration on ‘settlements’

Netanyahu reportedly told Likud members Israel will not have free reign to build in Judea and Samaria, despite  “historic” opportunity presented by Trump’s presidency.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said an agreement has yet to be reached with the administration of President Donald Trump on Israeli construction in Judea and Samaria, according to a Haaretz report

“There are no understandings [between Israel and Trump] about construction,” Netanyahu reportedly told his Likud party in a closed meeting. “We will develop a mechanism to try to reach understandings, but on this specific issue, there is no agreement.”

Netanyahu informed his Cabinet last week that a joint-mechanism would be established with the Trump administration regarding Israeli construction in Judea and Samaria, to the objection of a number of coalition members.

“Things are not as simple as you think,” Netanyahu reportedly said. “We should know what the limits of this opportunity are.”
