Netanyahu reportedly planning to get assurances from Trump during his upcoming trip to Washington that should Iran resume efforts to build ballistic missiles or uranium enrichment facilities, Israel will be permitted to strike again.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is planning on asking President Donald Trump for assurances during his upcoming trip to Washington that Israel will be permitted to carry out additional airstrikes on Iran should Tehran attempt to reconstitute its uranium enrichment capabilities or rebuild its ballistic missile factories, Israeli media outlets reported.

On Wednesday, national broadcaster Kan Reshet Bet radio reported that in addition to intensive talks regarding efforts to secure a deal with Hamas ending the war in Gaza and freeing the remaining hostages, Netanyahu is slated to press Trump for guarantees that Israel will be given American backing to strike Iranian nuclear facilities and ballistic missile assembly complexes should Tehran attempt to rebuild its nuclear or ballistic missile programs.

Iranian nuclear facilities and ballistic missile sites – including mobile missile launchers, storage depots, and factories – were the primary targets of Israel’s 12-day air campaign, dubbed Operation Rising Lion, against Iran last month.

Last Friday, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz (Likud) revealed that the IDF is already preparing for follow-up strikes should Iran attempt to rebuild its nuclear or ballistic missile programs.

“I have instructed the IDF to prepare an enforcement plan against Iran that includes maintaining Israel’s air superiority, preventing nuclear development and missile production, and delivering responses against Iran for supporting terrorist activity against the State of Israel,” Katz tweeted.

Katz suggested that Israel was prepared to strike Iran “regularly” should Tehran persist in its pursuit of nuclear weapons or ballistic missiles.

“We will act regularly to thwart threats of this kind.”
