Israel worked to restore order in an Arab neighborhood in the Jerusalem area.

Israeli security forces conducted a massive raid in the Arab neighborhood of Isawiya in Jerusalem on Sunday night, during which they arrested 51 Arabs suspected of terror-related violence, rioting and crime.

Hundreds of police officers and border policemen participated in Operation 700, which was defined as an action to stamp out terrorism and crime in the community, while improving the personal security and will being of the local Arab residents.

The operation included checking business licenses and various other aspects of enforcing public order.

Similarly, municipal employees worked to clean the streets and playgrounds, removed various obstacles that endangered the public, cleaned up graffiti and fixed street lighting.

A special emphasis was put on school areas, where crosswalks were also repainted.

All the arrestees were brought before a judge on Monday.

A police statement said that Sunday night’s operation is the latest phase in a year-long program, and the police has further such plans.

“This operation is the direct continuation of the battle against violent crimes, public disturbances and terrorism which the police has been conducting against those who participate in violent incidents against civilians and the security forces. The direct results of this operation are apparent on the street, through the closer ties with local law-abiding residents and the enhanced sense of the security experienced by  residents of Jerusalem and its guests,” a police statement said.
