Nine wounded in Muslim stabbing at Ohio State University

Terrorism is suspected in the car-ramming and stabbing attacks Monday morning at Ohio State University in Columbus.

At around 9:30 a.m, a man ran over several students with his car before exiting the vehicle and taking off on a stabbing spree with a butcher knife.

Nine students were rushed to hospital; one is in critical condition.

A policeman at the site reportedly engaged the attacker immediately, followed by police, a SWAT team, and canine and bomb squad units.

The attack was initially reported as a shooting spree.

The attacker, an 18-year old student of Somali descent, was shot dead by police more than an hour later.

Ohio State University, one of the largest in the country, has over 60,000 students on the Columbus campus.

In September, a 22-year-old Somali immigrant stabbed and wounded nine people in an Islamic terror attack at the Crossroads Center shopping mall in St. Cloud, Minnesota. An ISIS recruit, he made several “references to Allah” during the attack and asked at least one person whether she was Muslim before attacking her.

President Barack Obama was briefed on the attack, White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest told a press briefing.

President-elect Donald Trump commented on Facebook, saying, “Watching the news unfold at Ohio State University. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of the students and administration.
