A female Palestinian terrorist was shot dead Saturday after attempting to stab an Israeli security guard at the entrance to the Israeli community of Anatot, in the Binyamin region.

No Israelis were harmed in the incident.

According to initial reports, the guard attempted to escape, but was chased by the terrorist, and therefore shot her. She was critically wounded and died after Israeli medical teams attempted to resuscitate her.

Israeli police identified her as Rakia Abu Ayid, 13.

Police spokeswoman Luba Samri said an initial investigation suggests the girl fought with her family before leaving her home with a knife ahead of Saturday’s incident. Her father came to search for her and arrived at the scene of the attack shortly after it occurred. Police said they were investigating if the family knew of her intention to stab Jews.

The incident occurred in the Palestinian neighborhood of Abu Dis. The terrorist was apparently attempting to target security forces manning a security checkpoint.

These incidents were the latest in a long series of almost daily Palestinian terror attacks, which have plagued Israelis over the course of the past three-and-a-half months, claiming the lives of 28 victims and wounding over 280.
