A Palestinian terrorist on Sunday attacked several Israelis in the community of Tekoa, just south of Jerusalem.

The terrorist, from the nearby village of Deheisheh, attacked a vehicle in the Tekoa Forest parking lot with rocks and then fled into the community, where he found an iron bar and tried hitting one of the residents.

He then made his way to a synagogue, where he attacked residents with fists. They overpowered him before police arrived at the scene and arrested him.

The assailant was found to be carrying a notebook with verses from the Quran written in it.

There were no casualties in the incident, but three people were treated for anxiety.

IDF forces who were alerted to the scene took the terrorist for questioning while launching searches for other possible infiltrators. A siren went off and residents were told to stay indoors.

The attack occurred as students were celebrating the new school year in a special ceremony, where Israeli Minister of Tourism Yariv Levin was present. Gush Etzion municipal head Shlomo Neeman addressed the frightened children and calmed them down.
