New Women’s March leader shares same anti-Israel views as predecessors

One of the replacements for the vacant board seat left behind in the Women’s March group has a history of criticizing Israel.

When Women’s March leaders Bob Bland, Tamika Mallory, and Linda Sarsour resigned from their posts as board members, it was hoped that their empty seats would be filled with people who possessed more favorable views towards Israel and world Jewry.

This does not seem to be the case, JTA reports.

Zahra Billoo, a lawyer who serves as executive director of the San Francisco Bay Area office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), who now occupies a board seat on the Women’s March organization, has a history of  expressing anti-Israel views, as reported by the JTA.

In two tweets from 2015, Billoo said that ”Israel commits war crimes and terrorism as a hobby,” and that she is “more afraid of racist Zionists who support Apartheid Israel than of the mentally ill young people the #FBI recruits to join ISIS.”

Last year, she tweeted that ”Israel is an apartheid, racist state, which engages in terrorism against Palestinians,” and that she could not remain silent when her ”tax dollars fund the ongoing theft of land and Israeli killings of Palestinians.”

Despite her harsh views towards Israel, Billoo has expressed that she does share many of the Jewish State’s goals on other issues.

According to the JTA report, Billoo wrote an article for the Huffington Post in 2015 about her decision to speak at a conference organized by the American Jewish Committee.

“Some of us may disagree on politics in the Middle East, but there is no disagreement that the rise of Islamophobia and anti-Semitism in the U.S. is, in its simplest form, the growth of hate against faith, and both our communities are impacted,” Billoo wrote.

It is yet to be seen if Billoo will use her newfound position as a board member for the Woman’s March group to continue criticizing Israel.

The Women’s March is a women-led movement that is committed to dismantling systems of oppression through nonviolent resistance and building inclusive structures guided by self-determination, dignity and respect, as stated on the organization’s website.
