A federal lawsuit was filed in New York’s Southern District by more than 800 victims and bereaved family members of victims of the terrorist attacks against New York’s World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, as initially reported by Buzzfeed on Monday.“Saudi Arabia was duplicitous,” the claimants charged. “It presented a public face to the United States and other Western countries of a nation fighting al Qaeda and terrorism while at the same time, as detailed herein, Saudi government actors gave al Qaeda substantial material support and resources.”The lawsuit, which accuses a number of entities financed by Saudi Arabia’s government of having a relationship with Osama bin Laden, also says the attacks could not have happened without Saudi Arabian involvement.“As a result, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is liable to plaintiffs for all damages resulting in the injuries and deaths in the September 11th attacks,” the suit added. It took approximately 15 years for such a lawsuit to be permissible. The Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act passed by Congress was vetoed by former President Obama last year. The law allows US private citizens to sue a foreign government for involvement in terrorism.Read With Trump returning, Saudi Arabia should stop appeasing the HouthisBy: Jonathan Benedek, World Israel News 9/119/11 attacksSaudi Arabia
