The “Palestinian cause” will be a major priority in the upcoming Arab League summit, according to a report in the London-based Arabic outlet, Al Sharq al Awsat.“The Palestinian cause will be granted huge attention in the coming Arab summit,” the Arab League’s Secretary General Ahmed Aboul Gheit told the publication.Aboul Gheit added the Palestinians plan to present their own initiative. “They promised to put forward a new plan pertaining to the Palestinian issue in general,” he continued. “There is a desire on the Palestinian side to reformulate some ideas.”Although the Arab League and the Palestinian Authority (PA) seek a PA state, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Donald Trump have yet to commit to such an outcome, though both leaders endorse a regional approach to solving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.The summit agenda also includes: “Arab national security, confronting terrorism, Syrian crisis, Yemen, Libya, enhancing performance of the Arab League.”By: Jonathan Benedek, World Israel News Aboul GheitArab LeaguePalestinian Authority
