The Palestinian Authority’s Information Ministry on Sunday said that a visit to the Temple Mount by an Israeli minister was a terrorist act, “incitement against Islamic and Christian sanctuaries” and “a public call for the destruction of the al-Aqsa Mosque.”

The statement also said that the visit was an “act of aggression against worshipers,” the London-based Arab-language daily  Al-Sharq Al-Awsat reported.

On Sunday morning, Agriculture Minister Uri Ariel visited the Temple Mount as part of a tour of the area.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recently removed a ban on visits to the Temple Mount by Knesset members.

The PA called for urgent action by the United Nations and its relevant organizations to stop Israeli “violations” and to issue a position from the Al-Quds Committee of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), “warning the world against the escalating Israeli terrorism against holy sites.”
