Israeli Arabs assaulted police on Monday during an operation to destroy an illegally built house in the Arab town of Sakhnin.

Following the demolition, about 200 people demonstrated, clashed with police and threw rocks at them.

A total of six rioters were injured in the clashes, and two were arrested.

The police, acting on a court order, were securing municipality officials who worked to tear down the house, which was built on agricultural land.

At some point, a man riding an ATV attempted to run through the police blockade.

The phenomenon of illegal construction in the Arab sector is rampant, and Israeli authorities in recent months have been operating to demolish those deemed illegal by the courts.
