Terror in London: At least 7 dead, scores wounded in multiple attacks

Three men with 12-inch hunting knives, described as being “of Mediterranean origin,” reportedly mowed down 20 people before stabbing pedestrians on London Bridge. Attacks also occurred at two other locations.

According to the Daily Mail, police are searching for three men with 12-inch hunting knives who reportedly stabbed pedestrians after mowing down up to 20 people with a white van on London Bridge.

Metropolitan Police said they were called just after 10 p.m. to reports of a vehicle hitting pedestrians on the bridge, which crosses the River Thames in central London.

Multiple witnesses reported a vehicle veering off the road and hitting several pedestrians; others also said they saw a man with a knife.

One woman said she saw three people who appeared to have had their throats cut.

Nick Brandon of British Transport Police said the force had received reports of “multiple” casualties, but he did not know how serious the injuries were.

Soon after, there were reported stabbings at nearby Borough Market. Armed officers were sent to the scenes and shots were fired.

Police also said they were responding to another incident in the Vauxhall area, over a mile away.

Downing Street says Prime Minister Theresa May will chair a meeting of the government’s emergency response committee on Sunday.

A spokesman for May says the prime minister is in contact with officials and is being regularly updated.

May has not commented yet, but in the past she has convened her emergency security Cabinet known as Cobra after major incidents.

Britain’s official terror threat had recently been lowered from “critical” after a bombing killed 22 people, including children, at an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester.
